Jack & Jason Went to the Kitchen to Make Pancakes
I’m not sure the world needs another pancake/waffle mix. But San Francisco entrepreneurs Jack Harper and Jason Jervis are betting you’ll find theirs irresistible.
Their Jack & Jason’s Pancake & Waffle Mixes, which come in five flavors, are made with unenriched whole wheat flour, oatmeal and real fruit. Choose from: Original, Blueberry, Double Chocolate, Banana-Walnut and Pumpkin-Spice.
I had a chance to try the Banana-Walnut. You still have to add your own butter, egg and milk to the mix. A nice option is the directions included for making a low-cholesterol version with canola oil, egg whites and skim milk.
The pancakes have detectable bits of crunchy walnuts in them and definitely taste of banana.
The ingredients are unprocessed and the grains are not ground super fine, so there’s a pleasant, hearty roughness to the fluffy pancakes, too.
The mixes, $6.99 to $7.99 (depending on the variety), are available at a small number of San Francisco stores, including Fenway Market, Marina Supermarket, Falletti Foods, and Harvest Urban Market.
Sounds like a great mix!
YUM!! Hopefully they’ll start selling then in San Diego soon. 🙂
This is a GREAT product!! I’m all the way in florida right now, but plan to order some online to tide me over until I get to the Bay area.
This could shut down my daughter’s complaints about pancakes and waffles being “too fattening”.
These look yummy, I wonder how it would taste with soy milk?
Andi: I bet they would be really wonderful with soy milk.
The pancakes look great. Good start for the day.
Delicious photo! Wish I could have some for breakfast tomorrow 😀
Yum. I love pancakes of all varieties!
I am not a pancake fan but actually found it quite tempting after your say. Either they are right in their bets or it is your magical recommendation. 🙂 But only in San Francisco? hmmm…..
Great choice! I’d go for the banana-walnut too!
It’s been a long time since I’ve been tempted by a pancake mix, but this one looks healthy and I love the sound of those walnut bits!
I love pancakes, mix or not! This will just add to my list of things to look out for in my next grocery trip 🙂 How fun!
cools – unprocessed ingredients! the pancake mix i grew up with were pretty bad with a whole lot of ingredients i didnt know how to pronounce 😉
Mmmm… Pancakes… Would love to see a product like this around these here parts, but until then I guess I’ll just have to *suffer* with normal pancakes and waffles… Oh well! 🙂
