Love with Food
What could be inside this box?
Open sesame….
A whole lot of Love with Food, that’s what.
The Santa Clara company sends out red boxes to your door each month, brimming with gourmet samples to try. It’s way better than lining up and taking your chances at Costco.
For $10 a month plus $2 shipping, you get to try all manner of candies, chips, condiments, teas, chocolates and jams. If you like them, you can go back on the Love with Food site to order full-size products at a discount. What’s more, every time you purchase a box, the company donates a meal to hunger organizations, Feeding America and Share Our Strength. So far, more than 8,500 such meals have been donated.
The boxes can be shipped throughout the United States, including Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico and U.S military bases overseas.
Recently, I had a chance to sample the July box, which contained:
Mighty Leaf Organic Jasmine tea
Mighty Leaf Sunburst Green Iced Tea bag
Whale Tails Blue Corn Tortilla Chips
Montebello Chipotle Ketchup
Sanders Milk Chocolate Hot Fudge sauce
Sensible Foods Sweet Corn Crunch
YummyEarth Fruity Organic Lollipops
Patriotic Poppers candies
Former software engineer Aihui Ong started the company late last year, after taking a break from technology to go on what she called her own “Eat, Pray, Love” journey of backpacking around the world.
When she returned to the Bay Area, she decided to come up with a way to help small food producers foster greater brand awareness in a fun and useful way.
The name for the company came to her when she spent a year helping to care of a friend who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. During that time, Ong cooked for her ailing friend, showering her with “Love with Food.”
You can do the same. “Love with Food” boxes are a great way to show someone you’re thinking of them.

What a wonderful cause. So glad to see them giving so many meals away.
What a wonderful idea to use this way to help feed the hungry.
What a great idea to try new products at sample size. I’m heading to their site to check it out. 🙂
Since my previous monthly “sample” box place sold out and doesn’t offer monthly boxes anymore, I think this is a great new place to try…and they help out kids!
How fun is this to get a mystery box each month and for such a great cause! Love the goodies here. Once I discovered Mightly Leaf Tea, I haven’t bought my tea anywhere else. I have a cup of the Organic Jasmine every morning! Enjoy!
Ooh it would be like Christmas every month! 😀
This is both clever and wonderful! Who doesn’t like getting a prettily-wrapped surprise in the mail every month? And full of food! And a great way to discover new products.
Great idea! Who doesn’t like to try new things? And such a convenient way to do it. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
This is a very neat & tasty idea! Those foods look really lovely & tasty too! Good for you!
Oh I love this idea! Now that I don’t have much time to shop around and try new things, this sounds very attractive! Thanks for introducing. Let me check it out…
