If you haven’t yet checked out the new summer farmers’ market at Santana Row, you’re missing out.

Le Marche takes place every Wednesday, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., through September. The main Row is closed off to cars, so you can stroll both sides of the street easily to check out the wares of more than 50 vendors.

There’s everything from organic produce to fresh seafood and meat to cheese to baked goods.

My favorite Oaxacan Kitchen is there, with its hand-made tortillas and glorious mole sauces. So is Roli Roti, the mobile rotisserie with its impeccable roast chickens and potatoes that get coated in glorious chicken fat, as well as Oren’s Hummus with its impossibly smooth and richly nutting tasting hummus.

Be sure to check out the Midwife & the Baker stand for incredible, long-fermented artisan breads, as well as cardamom snail danishes.

There’s usually a cooking demo, too, by one of the chefs on the Row.

It’s a great stop to pick up fixings for dinner or even a complete meal on the go.

  • I went to a weekend farmers’ market at Santana Row years ago and it was about the saddest I’d ever seen. Good to know they’ve significantly upgraded since then, though with it being out of my way I don’t know that I’ll be going often.
