A Doggone Tasty Time at One Market
San Francisco’s One Market restaurant — steps from the Hyatt Regency at the Embarcadero — can be a fancy-shmancy place that has hosted celebs such as David Beckham and his wife, Victoria (aka Posh), and featured such high-brow fare as prix fixe dinners centered entirely around a particular artisan-raised animal.
But it also knows how to have fun.
Just witness its newest addition to the menu — a foot-long hot dog. Technically, it’s a little over 12 inches. Served on a house-baked poppy-seed bun, this mouthful of a wiener comes with mustard, house-made sweet pickles, spiced tomato jam and sauerkraut. To wash it all down, you also get your choice of one of seven cold draught beers.
The dog and beer combo is available for $12.50 (or just $9 for the dog alone) in the restaurant’s bar and lounge, weekdays until 5:30 p.m.
Ruler and tape measure not included.
OMG, that is an immense hot dog! I’d love to have a bite.
Cheers,
Rosa
Wow, it’s enormous! But it looks very elegant!
i just love the condiment cups. how fabulous is that?
Hehehe. I had to put my cursor over the photos to see if the restaurant had given them to you or if you had in fact brought your own ruler. 🙂 Looks good but I’m all about eating the hot dog with the bun so I wish the bun was longer, I agree with vaniallsugar though that the condiment cups are fab.
oh wow, that is one long sausage!
Wow, that’s a long weiner! I agree with Kelly that the bread should be just as long. I love all the condiment choices though!
I’m with the commenter who said the hot dog is elegant. We have a great new hot dog place in Pasadena, but its weak link (no pun intended) is the bun. This place seems to have all the bases covered with a home-baked bun, all my favorite condiments, grill marks on the dog and a beautiful presentation
Goood lord…I had no idea they served that! Lol. Is this an attempt to draw in the baseball crowd?
Wow, that is a serious hot dog! Looks delicious, and I love the condiments they served with it!
That is gigantic! It does look like a fun meal, and the bun looks delicious.
My footlong sub is definitely shorter than that :p
Ha, instead of where’s the beef, now its where’s the bun – a bit short there, but I am sure you don’t even notice.
That’s hard to believe that this is from One Market! But then again, it’s the fanciest presentation of a hot dog I’ve ever seen.
A hot dog for wholesalers? Funny and delicious too with those mustards 🙂
All the best,
Gera
I think that’s a perfectly spent $12.50. I’ve always wanted to try making my own yeast hot dog buns. I’ve done poppy seed hamburger buns and they turned out great. Knowing that One Market made the bun is very impressive to me. No one does that! And that hot dog length? Geez louise! I’d like to see the Nathan’s hot dog eating contest winner replace all his 50-something hot dogs with this longer kind. One Market should host a contest. Good luck to the Nathan’s guy!
LOL! You managed to get the entire hotdog into frame. 🙂 Kudos!
Haha! You see I love it when places have fun with food! This is so up my alley 😀
hahahahahaha,..How much I love this picture!! a hot dog of 12 cm!!! Waw!! A great shot!
the whole dish looks appetizing too! I love the dips!
Oh my god. That is insanely large (that’s what she said…had to throw that in there). Makes me wish I liked hot dogs…
Chef Mark Dommen of One Market just wrote in to tell me on Facebook that the dog features a lamb casing, too.
I never knew that food writers had to carry rulers around with them as tools of the trade. Seriously, the top photo with the old school wooden ruler is great.
this is awesome, it had strips on it!marvellous
