Goat Fest, David Chang Visits the Bay Area & More
4th Annual Goat Fest
OK, just look at those faces above. How adorable are they?
For a closer look, head to the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market for the 4th annual Goat Fest, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 21.
Redwood Hill Farm of Sebastopol will be bringing some of their “kids” for you to meet.
Enjoy samples of goat’s milk lotions, soaps and face creams, as well as cheeses, yogurts, caramels, fudge, chocolates and ice creams.
There also will be cooking demos and chances to meet representatives from Cypress Grove Chevre, Laloo’s Goat Milk Ice Cream and other goat’s milk product producers.
For more goat fun, you’ll be glad to know that Redwood Hill Farm will be offering tours of its farm on May 12, May 13, June 9 and June 10. Cheese, yogurt and kefir will be for sale, so don’t forget to pack a cooler. You can even milk a goat while you’re there.
Chef David Chang Comes to San Francisco in July
The always opinionated and colorful New York Chef David Chang will be the star attraction of an event, 8 p.m. July 17 at Herbst Theatre in San Francisco.
The executive chef and owner of the Momofuku restaurant group and publisher of the Lucky Peach” journal, Chang will be in conversation with Adam Savage, co-host of the Discovery Channel’s “Mythbusters” show.
Tickets range from $22 to $27 each.
New Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley
Chef Gordon Drysdale, late of the Bacchus Management Group (think Pizza Antica, Mayfield Bakery & Cafe, Cafe des Amis and more), has resurfaced at an exciting new venture: Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley.
It features, brunch, breakfast, lunch, dinner, catering and live music all under one roof.
The live-music venue features soft-service, meaning you order at the counter, then take a seat to wait for a server to bring the food to you.
At brunch, look for lemon and fresh ricotta Dutch boy with strawberries and creme fraiche; and spicy duck hash with poached eggs.
The all-day dining menu features such delights as Vietnamese fresh rolls with sweet and sour dipping sauce, crispy chicken sliders with gingery cabbage slaw, and Cap ‘n’ Crunch ice cream sandwiches.
On non-show days, the cafe stays open until 10 p.m. On show days, the hall and cafe are cleared to prepare for ticket entry 30 minutes before the doors are reopened in the evening. For a list of performances, click here.

Great events! The Goat Fest in particular sounds like a lot of fun…I’d love to try the goat milk ice cream! 🙂
Ooooh, I hope I can still get tix to David Chang. I bet he is a great interview.
And the goat fest sounds really fun!

San Francisco does seem to host some amazing foodie events. And those goats are just so cute – how long are their ears!
These are fun food-related events that I’ve never paid attention before. Your posts have been so informative about what’s going on around the Bay Area (and beyond) and it’s been a great source, Carolyn!
Goats R Cool. A few years ago, I read a piece in TIME magazine. The U.S. is one of very few countries that doesn’t use goats very much. Mainly has to do with the economy of an animal that only delivers 30 pounds of meat.
I still haven’t had a chance to visit the David Chang restaurant here but I’m dying to! And that opening picture of the goats is so adorable!
Nice list of events…especially David Chang. Love those goats!
The David Chang event should be so much fun! THat man is a culinary genius!
