New Sour Licorice Twists
If you’re a fan of Newman’s Own Organics regular licorice twists, you’ll be glad to know the company has just introduced a new variation: Sour Licorice Twists.
They come in four flavors: Sour Apple, Sour Cherry, Sour Mango, and Sour Strawberry.
I had a chance to taste samples of each recently. If you’re used to the wince of some other uber tart candies on the market, these will come off as fairly tame.
The sourness is present, but not overwhelmingly puckery.
The Sour Apple is probably the most tangy. The Sour Mango is the most distinctive with a slight floral quality.
The sour licorice twists are showered in organic sugar and sour crystals. Among their ingredients are elderberry extract and licorice root extracts.
The candies are low in fat and sodium, and are cholesterol-free. You can eat four twists and do only 130 calories worth of damage to your diet.
Each 5-ounce package is $2.99.

Ooops, my mouth got all watery for some reason. 😉
I didn’t even know they made candies. Never seen them before.
Oh Carolyn, thanks for this review…I will definitely look for this as I love the sour taste of this licorice.
Have a great week 🙂
Wow, I really love the first shot with the licorice in the jar. My mouth is already puckering up, getting ready for that sour-sweetness.
These look great. I love licorice and the fact this is organic is even better. I would like to try a packet in each flavour!
They look really fun and the packaging is nice too! 😀
Theses look so delicious! Since I don’t live in the States I don’t know all of Newman’s Own products but love them. And these, well, I have got to look for them on my next trip home! Love the fruit flavors! Thanks for the review!
I haven’t seen these but I will definitely start looking for them! I love the regular twists and these look just as good if not better! Thanks for the review.
That licorice looks amazing! I would love to try some of the mango flavour.
