Fried Chicken Galore, Chef of Compassion & More
Tasting Table Presents “Bubbly + Crunch”
Great fried chicken will make your eyes roll back into your head. So, too, a fabulous sparkling wine.
Leave it to Tasting Table to pair the two together in one unforgettable night.
Head to “Bubbly + Crunch,” 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 18 at American Steel Studios in Oakland.
Think unlimited fried chicken and bottomless glasses of Gloria Ferrer sparkling wine, plus custom cocktails. But wait, there’s more — dessert, of course.
Among those dishing up the fried chicken will be: Namu Gaji, Comstock Saloon, Nombe, Pican, Miss Ollie’s, Boxing Room, Abura-Ya, The Thomas, Farmerbrown’s–Little Skillet, and Grease Box. The sweets will be courtesy of: Humphry Slocombe, Pop Art Bakeshop, Delise Dessert Café and Sweet Collections.
Tickets are $70.68 each plus a $4.88 processing fee. Food Gal readers can use the code, “TTCrunch” to get 25 percent off, too. Best yet, 5 percent of proceeds will benefit Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign.
4th Annual “Chefs of Compassion”
I’ve been a judge at this wonderful, worthwhile event since its inception. I hope you’ll join me on the evening of Sept. 19 at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View for the fourth annual “Chefs of Compassion.”
Four chefs will each cook a course made with ingredients from the food pantry operated by West Valley Community Services, a non-profit that provides support services to those in need.
The chefs are: Isamu Kanai of Bushido in Mountain View; Kha Lu of Hay Market/Kansui Ramen in San Jose; Lee Hernandez of Palacio Restaurant in Los Gatos; and Joel Whitaker of Mixx in Mountain View.
My fellow judges will include: Stewart Putney of Edible Silicon Valley; Mike Inouye of NBC Bay Area; Tracy Lee of Dishcrawl; Chef Manuel Martinez of LV Mar; and Michael Isip of KQED. We’ll pick the best dish. A “People’s Choice” award also will be given out.
Tickets to this benefit are $125 each.
