It’s guaranteed to be a sweet time when yours truly teams with Executive Pastry Chef Samantha Miotke of Palo Alto’s Mayfield Bakery & Cafe for a delightful cooking demo 2 p.m. Sept. 19 at Macy’s Valley Fair in Santa Clara.

A graduate of the California Culinary Academy, Miotke was hooked on creating sugary treats ever since she was a little girl, playing with her Easy-Bake Oven.

Now, she oversees all the baked goods made at the popular Palo Alto Town & Country Village restaurant and bakery, famed for its artisan baguettes, morning buns, croissants and loaded chocolate-chunk cookies.

Come watch her demonstrate a signature sweet treat emboldened with plenty of cinnamon to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month. You’ll get a taste, of course — plus the recipe to take home.

The free cooking demo takes place in the culinary kitchen on the main floor of the Men’s and Home store.
