Get Ready for San Jose’s Dine Downtown Restaurant Week, Plus A Food Gal Giveaway
Get ready to do some serious eating, July 7-16, when Dine Downtown San Jose Restaurant Week gets underway.
Nineteen downtown restaurants will be offering special prix fixe or chef’s menus for the San Jose Downtown Association promotion that’s sponsored by Sysco.
Among them are: 71 Saint Peter Modern European Kitchen, the Farmer’s Union, La Pastaia, Loft Bar & Bistro, Poor House Bistro, and Nomikai Social Food + Drinkery.

CONTEST: One lucky Food Gal reader will win a $50 gift card to San Jose’s Olla Cocina. The gift card is good for use during Dine Downtown week or at any later date within a year.
Entries, limited to those who can actually make use of the gift card, will be accepted through midnight PST July 8. The winner will be announced July 10.

I want the card because I’d like to treat my now-wife (as of 2 days ago) to a nice meal by ourselves to make up for the one we really didn’t get to eat at our wedding. I think it’s safe to say we’ve taken enough pictures for a lifetime!
I would like the $50 gift card to San Jose’s Olla Cocina because husband Ben has been working very hard at work and not having any fun. I don’t like cooking so the $50 gift card would be used for us to have a nice meal out in Downtown San Jose. The menu sounds great: pozole, tamales oaxaqueno, shishito peppers (which I’ve never tried before!), enchiladas, beans, street corn, red mexican rice! It would be such a great treat to go to this new to us restaurant and as a long-time follower of your blog I’d be so happy!
I love trying new restaurants, and Olla Cocina looks absolutely delicious! I’d be especially excited to try the empanadas, because I’ve just discovered that despite hating them my entire childhood, I absolutely adore anything with mushrooms these days. It would also be a special treat, seeing as my fiance and I are getting married three months from tomorrow, and he is back in school, so money is a bit tight. 🙂
We like Farmer’s Union and Reposado. So Olla Cucina must be a winner. We’re using Restaurant Week to try places we haven’t been and to support our local enterprises. Must try the duck carnitas!
