Get Ready For the Wackiest Chocolates Yet
Imagine chocolates that taste exactly like Doritos dipped in queso.
Is your mind reeling yet?
Mine certainly was when I popped a sample of the new limited-edition TCHO Natchos into my mouth.
Yes, just in time for the Super Bowl, the zany minds at Berkeley’s bean-to-bar maker have outdone themselves with this latest creation.
Chief Chocolate Maker Brad Kintzer is a Philadelphia Eagles fan (don’t hold that against him), who started playing around with crafting a nacho-flavored chocolate bar in 2018 when his beloved team competed in (and won) the Super Bowl.
It was a specialty item that he would make to share only with friends, family, and those in the TCHO lab. Until now.
This year, for the first time, TCHO is selling them on its site to the public for $25.
The color of curry, these solid little chocolate squares carry a big wallop. There are actual tortilla chips in them to give that corn taste. There’s also garlic, chives, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and extra smoked paprika, along with enough red peppers, jalapenos, and cayenne pepper to add a jarring jolt of sweet, fruity heat that will linger.
It’s uncanny how much these chocolates taste like cheese, despite being dairy-free.
If you’re following a plant-based or gluten-free diet, this is surely one zany way to have your nachos — and savor them, too.
